DERMAL
FILLERS

Dermal fillers, like Juvederm, Revanesse, Stylage or Restylane, can be used for everything from lip augmentation to wrinkle treatment to scar removal.

There are many dermal fillers to choose from, and our resident Nurse Injector, Lisa Lorraine has tried them all. At Beautique Med Spa we carry a broad range of FDA and Health Canada approved dermal filler brands and will recommend the one best suited to your desired outcomes.

Injectable fillers may be used to correct a variety of cosmetic concerns, such as:

  • Lip Plumping
  • Fine Lines
  • Cheek Augmentation
  • Nose Augmentation
  • Undereye Hollowness
  • Wrinkles
  • Nose Augmentation
  • Overall Volume Loss

One of the most common areas to have dermal fillers injected is into the lips.

Dermal fillers can also be used to correct irregular or unbalanced looking lips. It is not uncommon to have one side of the lips appear fuller than the other side. Our Nurse is able to skillfully correct any asymmetry by replenishing the flatter side with conservative use of dermal fillers, to bring a sense of natural symmetry to your lips. The natural silhouette of your upper lip and cupid’s bow can be subtly accentuated to compliment the rest of your face. In addition, vertical wrinkles along the outside of the lips can be minimized during your lip filler treatment.

It has become exceedingly popular for women to wish for fuller, more luscious looking lips.

Unfortunately, we are not all born with luscious plump lips or have lost our natural plump lips with aging.

Furthermore, as we begin aging, the corners of the mouth can appear to sag or slouch, as well as the V-shaped area of the upper lip, better known as the cupid’s bow, begins to look a bit deflated and lose much of its youthful fullness. Lip filer can be an excellent way to achieve the fullness you’re seeking. There are several methods available within a lip augmentation procedure. Some are less invasive than others. Lips can be rejuvenated, plumped, defined and thin lips can be enhanced. Filler are a relatively quick and simple way to reach fuller looking lips. There are many to choose from including Juvederm, Revanesse, Stylage and Restylane. Our resident Nurse Injector has tried them all. At Beautique Med Spa we carry a wide range of FDA and Health Canada approved filler brands and will recommend the one best suited to your desired outcomes. Any vertical lines or wrinkles along the outer borders of the lips can also be addressed and minimized at the time of your lip augmentation treatment.

Dermal Fillers FAQ's

1How Long does it last?
Lip injections can be done with a wide array of dermal filler brands and depending on the one chosen to best suit your needs the results can last anywhere from 6-18 months in most patients. Most Patients maintain their lip size by having a small amount injected every 6-8 months.
2Does it Hurt?
Some patients experience discomfort during the treatment while others do not. Our Nurse Injector will apply a topical anesthetic to the area to be treated to help ease any discomfort.
3I’ve seen friends with very unnatural looking lip filler. Will I look like that too?
No. Not if that is not what you are looking for. Our nurse injector approaches each patient differently understanding that everyone’s idea of beauty is unique. The lips a 20 year old is seeking are very different from those of a 40 year old. Our Nurse will go through a thorough consultation with you to determine what your goals are. Lip Injections can be done very naturally only providing a slightly more plump version of your own natural lip or they can be done to produce a large pouty lip. It’s your decision!
4How long does it take to heal?
Your lips may be slightly swollen for several hours, following your lip augmentation procedure. That being said, this is completely normal and should not hinder you from returning to your normal activities. Some people may have slight swelling for 1-3 days. The swelling should be minimal and usually peaks the morning following treatment and quickly dissipates after that. Icing every hour and taking arnica can help with swelling. Some patients can experience bruising which can be immediately covered with makeup and lipstick and usually heals in 3-5 days. There are steps you can take to lessen the chance of swelling and bruising. Please Read “How should I Prepare for my Appointment?”
1How Should I Prepare for My Appointment?
Please advise us when booking if you are taking any blood thinners. It is advisable to stop all NON-PRESCRIPTION medication such as Aspirin, Advil and supplements as these can raise the risk of bruising and swelling. If your doctor has advised you to take any of these products please speak with them prior to stopping. Always continue with your prescribed medications as directed. Avoiding alcohol for 48-72 hours prior to your appointment also help lower the risks of bruising and swelling.
